Dinner and Dine Cruise with Serendipity Supper Club, Gilpatrick’s Hotel Chitna, and Valdez Brewing

In partnership with Serendipity Supper Club, Gilpatrick’s Hotel Chitna, and Valdez Brewing, we hosted a dinner cruise that traveled through the Port of Valdez onboard the Valdez Spirit. Trips like this one are always special to our crew and captains, as it’s a chance to spend time with community members and enjoy the Port of Valdez at night.

Dinner was a delicious menu prepared by Serendipity Supper Club. The appetizer was a beet gnocchi with winter mole, toasted cumin creme fraiche, and cocoa nibs. The salad was spot prawn ceviche, with bitter greens, roasted corn chutney, cotija cheese, and lime. The entree was a braised barrio short rib lasagna. Dessert was a red chili chocolate tiramisu. Once on board, guests had the options to purchase beer and wine from Valdez Brewing or Gilpatrick’s Hotel Chitna.

During the trip, guests were able to take in the sights of the Port of Valdez. On the Columbia Glacier Excursion and Meares Glacier Excursion, we regularly see wildlife such as sea otters, sea lions, harbor seals, oystercatchers, bald eagles, arctic terns, and black-legged kittiwakes in the port. Sometimes larger wildlife like orca whales, humpback whales, and porpoise can be seen there too! When the pink salmon begin to run, black bears can be spotted along the shorelines as well.

The Port of Valdez is a great place to view Anderson Falls. Anderson Falls is a waterfall produced by Anderson Glacier, which sits high up in the Chugach Mountains. Entrance Island, Shoup Glacier, and Middle Rock are other notable sights within the Port of Valdez.
