Chris Thoma is a life-long Alaskan (born and raised) who grew up in the North Pole area near the Stephens family. In 1988, Chris spent his first summer in Valdez working at Stan Stephens Cruises cleaning and crewing on boats. Through the years Chris has worked every possible job in the company and for the past 14 years has driven our boats and served as the lead vessel maintenance coordinator.
Even though summer is the time of year Chris gets to share the amazing glaciers and exciting wildlife with travelers, he would be just as happy if he could be snow-machining (snowmobiling) 12 months a year. On his off time in the winter, you will quite likely find Chris at the top of the Chugach Mountains playing in the 400-800 inches of snow that falls annually.
